Manufacturing Capabilities

State-of-the-Art Manufacturing Processes

Air Rover has designed and manufactured virtually every conceivable type of portable or semi-portable air conditioning system, including high-temperature and constant run systems for NASA, RADOME systems for telecommunications shelters, and trailer-mounted ECUs for military deployment. Located in Tyler, Texas, halfway between Dallas, Texas, and Shreveport, Louisiana, Air Rover’s manufacturing facilities include a fully computerized sheet metal department featuring automated Global Series of CNC turret punch presses from Strippit/LVD designed to meet the fabricating challenges of a new millen¬nium, four-axis CNC hydraulic press brake systems, high-capacity assembly lines, automated vacuum forming systems, a computerized hardware inserter and powder coat painting and finishing. Air Rover’s facility includes shipping docks and rail accessibility for fast product deployment.

Workmanship

  1. Metal fabrication
Metal used in fabrication is free from kinks and sharp bends. The straightening of material is done by methods that will not cause injury to the material. Corners are square and true. All bends are made by controlled means to ensure uniformity of size and shape. Precaution is taken to avoid overheating materials. Heated steel is allowed to cool slowly. All surfaces are free of burrs. Air Rover is equipped with two Strippit Global 20 Series Punch Presses that ensure sheet metal is fabricated to strict tolerance levels in accordance with USMC requirements.

  2. CAD/CAM 3D Sheet Metal Design System
Air Rover's automated CAD/CAM system creates precision sheet metal parts using industry standard engineering design programs. We are capable of reproducing any part from a complete library of Environmental Control Units and portable air conditioning systems programs dating back to 1987. Air Rover's CAD/CAM manufacturing design production system uses SolidEdge© and SolidWorks© software for 3D modeling and rendering.

  3. Welding
All welding is done in accordance with AWS D1.1, AWS D1.2, and/or ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, as applicable.

  4. Brazing
All brazing is done in accordance with AWS B2.2 or ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, as applicable.

Additional Value Features

Configuration Upgrades Based on User Feedback

Air Rover's manufacturing facilities offer a unique advantage to rapidly change manufacturing procedures based on user feedback. Over the course of Air Rover's relationship with the USMC, several ideas emerged that helped the overall deployment and capability of Air Rover's ECUs. For instance, Air Rover units were provided for testing at USMC locations at Yuma, AZ, before being put into service. In the past, contacts were made at Camp Lejeune, NC that would enable Air Rover ECUs to be provided to MEF supply units for testing and feedback before deployment. Air Rover thinks this is an excellent model to follow and has seen positive results from previous tests. Air Rover appreciates feedback from its customer and constantly looks for ways to improve reliability and functionality of all units. Air Rover fully expects to make product modifications as technology improves and feedback accumulates over the life of our diverse contracts.

Increases in Production Capacity

Air Rover rapidly expands production capacity when mandated by large orders. As orders arrive for high quantities of like units, Air Rover's work order delivery process accommodates high volume assembly and testing to meet client requirements. Air Rover owns 5.5 acres of unimproved commercial property along the I-20 corridor adjacent to the current manufacturing facility to accommodate production expansion that facilitates on-time deliveries
